Course Overview:
This professionally designed short course series equips ecotourism practitioners with practical skills, knowledge, and tools to lead sustainable tourism initiatives. Through three progressive levels, participants learn to design, implement, and grow ecotourism enterprises grounded in conservation, community engagement, and ethical business practices.

Course Structure:
- Module 1: Site and Destination Analysis
Learn to evaluate the practical limits of your site using the four types of carrying capacity: physical, psychological, ecological, and social. Apply techniques like visitor flow mapping and zoning to manage impact effectively - Module 2: Stakeholder Engagement
Identify key stakeholders (communities, government, NGOs, tourists) and understand the importance of engagement for sustainability and conflict reduction . Learn models like CBE and solutions for challenges like power imbalances and distrust. - Module 3: Product Development
Understand how to design impactful ecotourism products—ecolodges, eco-trails, and gastronomy experiences—that integrate sustainability, education, and community co-creation. Learn principles for minimal impact design and enhancing visitor engagement. - Module 4: Environmental Management
Recognize key environmental risks in ecotourism (soil erosion, wildlife disturbance, water pollution) and major impact areas (trails, lodges). Learn core mitigation practices like Leave No Trace, waste management, and risk zoning. - Module 5: Field Application
Apply planning essentials, from site scans and risk assessment to choosing sustainable transport and lodging . Learn to structure engaging multi-day itineraries that incorporate local guides, Leave No Trace principles, and ensure tangible community benefits.
